WORK WIFE BALANCE
I found this really funny, but kept thanking my lucky stars I don’t work in a big corporate institution like protagonist Kate King whose life is being ruined by her job. Kate is struggling to keep afloat as her ridiculous team and horrendous boss fight each other, cheat each other and lie to each other through the constant threat of redundancies, sackings and site closures.
She spends most of her evenings and weekends working and when she gives her husband a dinner of fish fingers and spaghetti hoops he says, ‘you really have given up, haven’t you?’ He becomes increasingly irate about how much time she puts in at the office and then there is his new
friendship with a female colleague to consider - but Kate doesn’t have time to consider anything what with all the new directives, IT systems and reports being flung at her 24-7.
As if things aren’t bad enough she also has to contend with the appearance of back fat and the upsetting feeling that she has become invisible to men.
Something’s got to give, obviously, but will it be her marriage or her job? And which does she care about more? Kate is a wonderful character, believable and likeable and with a nice line in funny put-downs.
This is well-written, very funny and I raced through it, occasionally squealing in horror at the antics of Kate’s colleagues. It’s also a joy to read
about a strong woman with a big job and fiery opinions, a nice antidote to the sugary sweet sort of chick lit.

Best book in a long time!
I have never read a book where I have laughed out loud before. Not the sort of book you can read quietly in bed next to a snoring husband. I felt that by the end of the book "Kate" was a friend not a character from a book. Funny funny book, can't wait to start on Pot-Bound!
Brilliant Read!
This book made me laugh out loud. My wife has never seen this happen before! The characters were so familiar to people I have met in work, as were many of the situations they found themselves in. Buy the book, it's very funny, easy to read and hard to put down!
Cracking Debut!
A witty, insightful account of life in the corporate cauldron, Jo Edwards' 'Work Wife Balance' will strike a chord with anyone who has ever
worked in an office!
I found myself by turns commiserating, nodding in agreement and laughing out loud with Kate while sharing her increasingly desperate efforts to juggle her career and home life. Keenly-observed characters jostle, scheme, gossip and back-stab their way through the pages, reminding me of everything I loved and hated about working in a similar environment and the reasons why I'm eternally grateful that I managed to escape!
A cracking debut novel and a thoroughly enjoyable read - looking forward to a sequel!
WARNING! I have just read this book by Jo Edwards. It made me laugh out load a lot - do not read this on a train....
Brilliant Read
For anyone who has worked in an office environment it will really hit the spot. Jo manages to catch all the quirky personalities that inhabit the office world. This book is a must read for anyone who has worked in a busy office. You will laugh out loud as you read thinking that this never happens
when you know full well that it does. A fantastic first book and looking forward to the next.
POT-BOUND
“Kate is a wonderful character, believable and likeable and with a nice line in funny put-downs.” Daily Mail
“Having read 'Work Wife Balance' I could not wait to find out the next chapter in Kate's life - I was not disappointed! If you have ever worked in an office you will relate to the daily grind which, when added to Kate’s chaotic personal life makes this a great read. I found myself laughing and cringing at the same time, it is so true to life!”
MIXED RECEPTION
"Perhaps the funniest writer I've read in many years. I'm running out of time now - almost finished the last book! Hoping there's plenty more on the horizon and soon. Marry me Kate! Fabulous stuff, but not to be read during the daily commute on public transport. People will think you odd if you wet yourself laughing."
“What an excellent read, so hard to put down! I didn't want it to end. Well written and extremely funny.”
FOGGY'S BLOG
“This was a great find. I read it almost in one sitting, needed to keep finding out what would happen to dear, innocent Foggy next! There are some wonderful characters: an unfortunate hero, a nymphomaniac mother, a Granny who stuffs sausage rolls up her sleeves....! There are many laugh out loud moments, if you don't know what ‘speed-mincing’ is you really need to read this. Very quirky, very entertaining and highly recommended.”
“Absolutely hilarious! I had tears streaming down my face I was laughing so much! If you've ever worked in a call centre or contact centre environment then this rings so true in many ways. I've recommended this to several of my work colleagues and have now read Jo's other books. Brilliant!”
A VERY FOGGY CHRISTMAS
“What can I say, I loved every word of this hilarious story. Rowan Atkinson or Jim Carey should star in a movie based on this wonderful, laugh every sentence tale. Now I have to read the rest of Jo Edwards’ stories. Too bad the ratings only go to 5 stars as it deserves more.”
