Jo lives in Hampshire in the UK having been raised in the New Forest - sadly not by wolves, which may have better prepared her for life in a corporate environment. Having made the escape in 2012, Jo finds writing humorous fiction a great way to recover from the experience.
When she is not writing, Jo works as a second 'shooter' for her husband's photography business and weekends are generally taken up with weddings. As these provide a wealth of writing material, Jo finds this a valuable mix of work.
Recently, Jo has been a guest on The Book Show for Talk Radio, The Culture Show for Voice FM and The All Woman Show at Norton Park.

Q: What is the title of your latest project?
A: I have just completed my fourth novel, Upstairs At Derek's which was released in October 2017. This follows the story of Colin the gardener who, finding himself free and single but not so young, attempts to trace his childhood sweetheart. His search uncovers a web of lies and betrayal, and takes him to places he's not sure he wants to go to. In addition to this, I have just finished a short story for Christmas Lites V11, an anthology of Christmas tales, with ALL royalties going to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. It is available now from Amazon. I'm still working sporadically on adapting my 'wig diaries' into a novel as well as ideas (well, jottings) for a third Foggy novella.
Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: My ideas come either from my imagination or from others’ experiences – almost everyone has an unusual anecdote about their workplace - a dysfunctional colleague or a ridiculous boss and my friends provide me with a myriad of fantastic writing material. Always very heavily disguised!
Q: What genre does your work fall under?
A: Humorous fiction; at least, I think it's funny!
Q: Who or what inspires you to write?
A: Funnily enough, reading a badly written book inspires me to write, because I think I can't be any worse! I have also always loved making people laugh, I don’t really know why, no doubt it's a cover for some inadequacy or other. It feels fantastic when someone tells me they laughed out loud at my books, it's such a buzz. There's a real connection between people who share the same sense of humour.
Q: What else about your work might pique reader’s interest?
A: I believe anyone who works with others will be able to identify with my work. Colleagues are such weird and wonderful creatures - who else can drive you mad yet keep you sane? The colourful characters at Perypils Insurance and Farzyk Hall are based on the types of people that you find in every workplace environment. The Drain, for example; the sort of person who, if he could see the light at the end of the tunnel, would try and snuff it out. Every office has one!
Q: What’s next?
A: I think I shall concentrate on my Wig Diaries. I’ve been unfortunate enough to have been diagnosed with cancer twice, both times necessitating chemotherapy and keeping a diary helped me cope with the gruelling treatment and its unpleasant side effects. It may not seem a very humorous subject, but trust me, wigs can’t not be funny.
